Top Ten Financial Aid Questions

  1. What application materials are needed to apply for financial aid? Does RCC require its own form, in addition to the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)?

The FAFSA is the initial application for all federal aid programs. RCC will request additional forms or documents, if needed after the FAFSA is processed by the government. RCC has a separate process and application for scholarships. Both applications are available online or hard copies may be obtained by contacting our Student Services Office at 405.422.6250.

  2. What are the deadlines for submitting financial aid forms?

The earlier a student files the FAFSA, the earlier the notification process will be completed. Oklahoma residents need to apply on or before April 15 for consideration for the state grant program, OTAG. Additional documents may be required of students after the FAFSA is processed. Responding promptly to any requests for additional information is required to prevent delays in the application process.

  3. How and when will I be notified of my financial eligibility?

Students who have submitted all requested documentation should receive an award letter, beginning in the late spring. RCC awards students on a rolling basis as files are completed.

  4. Will my request for financial aid have any impact on my ability to be admitted to college?

No. Acceptance to RCC is based on academic standards, not financial need.Applying for financial aid will not impact the admission decision in any way.

  5. Can I fill out the FAFSA electronically?

Yes. Visit http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/When completing the FAFSA online, both students and parents must either electronically sign with a PIN or must print out a signature page and mail it to the government. PIN numbers can be obtained by visiting http://www.pin.ed.gov/Filing the FAFSA online will greatly reduce your processing time.

  6. Once my financial aid package has been awarded, will additional scholarships reduce the amount of financial aid that I can receive? Depending upon your financial aid eligibility, additional scholarships can reduce your eligibility for student loans, work-study, and grants, other than Pell. Students should not turn down scholarships or grants.
  7. Will RCC meet my full financial need? Will it meet my full need for both years of my attendance?

We will award you the maximum amount that we can, based upon your financial need and the funds that we have available. We also will assist you in finding alternative sources of funding, if necessary. You must re-apply for financial aid every year; therefore, your eligibility for the following year will be determined at that time.

  8. Are there state financial aid programs that I should know about?

You automatically are considered for any state funding by completing the FAFSA. State funding is limited and varies on an annual basis.

  9. Does RCC participate in a tuition payment plan that allows installment payments for each semester’s bill?

Yes. RCC has established an interest free monthly payment plan, FACTS. Information is available from the Business office at 405.262.2552, ext. 2347, or online.

  10. Where can I find additional sources for financial aid?
