POSITION:    1  Information & Education Intern
SALARY:       $9.10 hr.
LOCATION:    Central Office, 1801 N. Lincoln Blvd., Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

Summary of Job Duties:  May conduct Hunter Education classes, Aquatic Education clinics and assist with Archery in the Schools events, write articles for the magazine Outdoor Oklahoma, help with the television show Outdoor Oklahoma and/or work on the website. Other duties include coordination with other department personnel, handling requests, providing information and assistance to sportsmen, outdoor writers, and other constituents.

Applicants must be able to lift and carry a minimum of 50 pounds for a distance of 100 yards, operate a motor vehicle, 2/4 wheel drive, standard or automatic transmission, with a trailer attached. May be required to walk/run over rough terrain and swim. May work extended hours and weekends and outdoors in extreme weather.  May be required to stay overnight out of town.  Must have the ability to communicate clearly and effectively in public speaking situations and be able to express oneself clearly and concisely in writing.  Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

Position is not to exceed 975 hours per term.
(a term is a 12-month period starting with the hire date).
Lodging is not provided.

Requirements:  Intern applicants must be actively pursuing a degree, or have obtained a degree, in the following: Wildlife Conservation Science, Wildlife Ecology Education, Biology Communications, Zoology, other related wildlife degrees, Journalism and Education. Graduate degree candidates, seniors, juniors and sophomores with majors in wildlife conservation and those with previous related work experience in fisheries or wildlife will receive preference.

Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of fish and wildlife conservation principles, hunting/fishing ethics, firearms safety, archery shooting, and fishing techniques.  Skill and competence in use of small tools.  Skill in exercising good judgment in analyzing situations and making decisions.  Must have knowledge and experience with personal computers.

Examination:   Oral interview.  Must be a U. S. Citizen or Alien authorized to work in the United States.

POSITION SUMMARY
The HR Intern will assist in maintaining the integrity of HSI's personnel records as well as providing clerical and administrative support to the HR Team. The HR Intern will assist int he upkeep of the different HR Information Systems and will assist in different projects as assigned by the Director of HR and HR Team.

 SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Ability to maintain strictest confidentiality
  • Ability to act with diplomacy and tact
  • Ability to organize and maintain files
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to perform basic office duties such as filing, scanning and data entry

Education : Prefer intern working towards a business degree

Computer Skills
Experience and skilled in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Work, Excel and Outlook is preferred.
