El Reno Masonic Lodge Donates Funds to Redlands Aggie Club

El Reno Masonic Lodge #50 recently presented a check to the Redlands Community College Aggie Club for $10,124 to support the organization’s scholarship program for agriculture students.

“The Aggie Club appreciates the support of Masonic Lodge #50 and the opportunities this partnership provides our students,” said Amanda Thornbrugh, Aggie Club president. “The funds we received will greatly benefit our students by helping them pursue their education and career goals.”

Aggie Club members participate in community service projects, assist at many of the local and regional livestock shows and the Oklahoma Youth Expo. Each May the club hosts a banquet and auction as a fundraiser for the organization, and the Masonic Charity Foundation of Oklahoma matches the funds raised at the event.

“When Redlands instructor Ed Zweiacher and I worked together several years ago to establish this scholarship fund, it was with the goal of helping Redlands ag students for many years to come,” said Lodge Treasurer Melvin Payton. “It has been a pleasure to watch the program grow and to work with such wonderful students. We are honored to be able to present this check to you.”

Redlands Aggie Club Vice President Jessica Shackelford said, “The Aggie Club provides a unique opportunity for students to merge agriculture and the community, and we appreciate the opportunity to work with the Masonic Lodge to help our students.”
