Aging Services of Canadian County (ASCC) is a division of Redlands Community College designed to help seniors maintain their independence by furnishing those 60 years of age or older with housekeeping, nutrition, and transportation services. ASCC has served more than 10,000 seniors in Canadian County for longer than 25 years, and has not only supplied more than 100,000 services, but also has connected clients with other appropriate resources and services. Referrals from individuals, families, and various agencies are welcomed. ASCC does not discriminate on the basis of race, creed, disability, religion, or income.
ASCC is not funded by Redlands. Funding for ASCC is supplied by the Areawide Aging Agency, according to the Older Americans Act -- Title III-B and Titile III-C, OKDHS Aging Services Division, and through donations. While services are based upon need, rather than ability to pay, donations for services are highly appreciated and will help ensure that ASCC can continue to provide these valuable benefits.
Persons who are 60 years of age or older and who live in Canadian County, and care-givers to those in this age range, are eligible for a variety of excellent benefits offered by Aging Services. Those services include the following.
For those needing assistance at home, ASCC supplies a trained and personable staff member to perform light housekeeping duties. Participants must be physically unable to do the work. Eligibility will be determined by a personal needs assessment. Duties include vacuuming, dusting, mopping, dish washing, changing of linens, and laundry, but do not include personal care and heavy lifting.
Nutrition sites in El Reno and Mustang provide delicious, hot lunches for seniors in a social setting, Monday through Friday. In addition to these nutritious meals and fine company, seniors can enjoy a variety of activities including bingo, cards, dominoes, quilting, crafts, guest speakers, and music groups.
