Tyler Brown
Men's Head Coach

Tyler Brown begins his first season leading the Men’s Basketball program at Redlands. The Redlands alum served on staff for 11 years, serving 4 head coaches over 3 stretches with the Cougars and has 13 total years of Collegiate coaching experience. Brown has made a name for himself throughout college basketball for his tireless work ethic, his ability to recruit unheralded players throughout the country, his attention to detail, and his preparation. 

Brown has spent the last 6 years serving on staff at Redlands. He worked the 2011-12 season for Yaphett King helping the Cougars to a 15-15 record while coaching All Region II player Joy Williamson. Brown then spent the last 5 seasons as the top Assistant/ Recruiting Coordinator under Earnest Crumbley Jr. Brown helped lead the Cougars to an 85-72 overall record including back to back Region II Tournament championship games in 2014 (25-8) and 2015 (24-9). Brown coached 11 All OCAC players, 4 all Region II players, as well as 2 Academic All Americans in the last 6 years. Brown helped send 25 players to 4 year institutions.

Brown spent the 2008-2009 season as the top Assistant under Rolando De La Berra at Western Oklahoma State College in Altus, OK. While at Western, Brown helped the Pioneers to a school record 24-6 record and a share of the Bi- State West regular season championship. Brown also helped Western to the #14 ranking in the final NJCAA poll that season. He coached All Region II performer Kendall “Buddy” Cutler and helped send 9 guys on to 4 year institutions after that season.

Prior to his time at Western, Brown served for 3 seasons at Redlands. He worked from 2005-2007 for Redlands legendary Head Coach Steve Eck, helping the Cougars to a 58-8 record over those 2 seasons. The 2006 Cougars finished ranked #8 in the final NJCAA poll with a record of 27-6 and losing the Region II Tournament championship game. The 2007 Cougars started the year with 24 consecutive wins on their way to a 31-2 overall record. They would spend most of the year ranked #1 in the NJCAA poll and finish the year ranked #2. The Cougars would win the Bi- State West conference and lose in the Region II Tournament championship. Brown worked the 2007-2008 season under Win Case and helped the Cougars to a 20-11 record. In his 3 years Brown would help send 17 players to 4 year institutions.

Brown served the 2004-2005 season as a Student- Assistant under Kelvin Sampson at the University of Oklahoma. The Sooners would win the Big 12 Championship and reach the 2nd round of the NCAA tournament that year. Brown served as a Student- Assistant at Redlands from 2002-2004 where he helped the Cougars to a 67-5 record, 2 undefeated Bi- State West titles, 2 Region II Tournament championships, 2 trips to the NJCAA National Tournament, and a National Runners- Up finish in 2004.

Brown is a graduate of Oklahoma small school basketball powerhouse Calumet High School. He holds an AA in General Studies (Phi Theta Kappa) from Redlands Community College and a BS in Organizational Leadership from Southern Nazarene University. He is married to the former Alexis Kozak and the couple have 3 children (Kobe 15, Kyera 14, Keaton “Boogie” 6, They reside in El Reno with their 3 Boxers (Manny, Lucy, Lennox)
