Redlands Community College is hosting its first-ever esports Summer Camp, a six-day competitive gaming experience centered around the popular game Marvel Rivals. The residential camp will run from July 13-18 offering young gamers a unique opportunity to develop their skills while building lasting friendships in a supportive environment.
The innovative program combines intensive gaming sessions with structured tournaments and team challenges designed to enhance players' strategic thinking and teamwork abilities. Participants of all skill levels will benefit from the camp's comprehensive approach to esports education. The camp is open to students who completed eighth grade to 12th grade during the 2024-2025 academic year.
"We've created an experience that goes beyond just playing games," said Jeffrey Sheldon, Redlands’ esports coach. "Our goal is to foster a community where young gamers can connect, learn and grow both as players and individuals."
Patrick Refresh McClung will be serving as camp advisor, bringing his expertise and passion for esports to enhance the camper experience. And in addition to competitive gameplay, campers will enjoy special events, including a cosplay competition showcasing favorite gaming characters, a movie night for relaxation and bonding, and surprise activities throughout the week.
The all-inclusive camp is $650 if registered by May 15, and then the cost increases to $700 after that date. The camp includes on-campus lodging and meals for the entire six-night, five-day experience. Participants will check in on July 13 at 3 p.m. and depart on July 18 at 4 p.m.
Registration is now open, but space is limited. Early sign-up is strongly encouraged for this inaugural event. For more information or to register, please visit redlandscc.edu/esports or email Redlands.esports@redlandscc.edu.
