CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

Jazz/Funk Dance
Session 1 & 2; 7-12 yrs
Bringing together the culture of street dancing and the technical training of dance, (Creative Funk/Jazz) has an entertainment quality uniquely its own.  Studies of the instructor's style, utilizing the beats and rhythms of the music, as well as isolating the different body parts Creative Funk dancers look as if they were "free-stylin'".

Mad Science
Session 1 & 2, 5-12 yrs
Variety of science competitions and experiments such as the Egg Drop, Bubble Gum Blowout, Raft Rally, Rocket Shoot-off, the Weakest Link, and Super Slinger.  Students will engage in steps of the scientific method as they perform exciting experiments and compete against others in thrilling competitions.

Arts & Crafts
Session 1, 5-12 yrs
Student will make butterfly magnets, creating their own art work with student hand prints and more.  This will be a fun class and students will be able to take home their art project each day.

Hip-Hop Dance
Session 1, 5-12 yrs
In this class, your child will learn a beginning hip hop routine appropriate for their age level. They will learn a small portion of the routine a day, work some beginning stretches, some dance exercises, and have a blast while doing it! Your child does not have to have experience to participate! Everyone can dance together!

Music Exploration
Session 1 & 2, 5-12 yrs
Exploring music through games, movement, singing, creating instruments and science.

Archery
Session 1 & 2, 5-12yrs
Students will learn the basic of shooting a genesis compound (which is used in the schools), recurve bow and a compound bow, while being in a safe environment.

Cultural Arts with the Lion King
Session 1 & 2, 5-12 yrs
A week of African cultural arts, including creating musical instruments, designing an African mask, learning African language and dance.  All of these components will be connected together with a combined arts performance at the end of the week.

The Play's the Thing
Session 1 & 2, 7-12 yrs
The children will learn theatre terminology, jobs related to the theatre, stage directions, character analysis, and roll playing. Each child will be cast in a Character Education Play, created by the Great Expectations program, and work with the class instructor on blocking, delivery, and technique. On Friday the children will perform each play rehearsed during the session. Memorization of lines is encouraged, but not a requirement. The plays will each be approximately 10-15 minutes in length and parents will be invited to watch.

Cooking With Class
Session 2, 5-12 yrs
Taste the Adventure! Join "Cooking with Class" as we empower kids with culinary knowledge; students will be blending their cooking skills with a dash of creativity.

It's A Girl Bling!
Session 1 & 2, 5-6 yrs
Come and let's bling your little princess from head to toe!  Glittering bracelets, sparkling tiaras and much more.

Martial Arts
Session 1 & 2, 5-12 yrs
Learn basic kicking, punching stretching and the terminology of Martial Arts from a "KMG Martial Arts" instructor.

Stage Makeup
Session 1 & 2, 9-12 yrs
Students will learn different techniques on how to apply stage makeup onto themselves and others.  Students will learn several different styles including old age, animals, fantasy, etc. This is a 2 hour class.

African Drumming
Session 1 & 2, 5-12 yrs
These workshops are designed to teach fundamentals like hand technique, basic sounds and tones, how to concentrate and play a solid rhythm in a drum circle.  There is a drum provided for each student.

Clear Today, Stormy Tomorrow!
Session 1, 9-12 yrs
We will explore the nature of various weather conditions, and learn what is behind the weather we experience every day.

Do You Hear What I Hear?
Session 1, 7-12 yrs
What is sound?  What does it have to do with the particles in the air?  We will explore the nature of sounds that surround us at all times, and make some sounds of our own.

Don't Try This at Home!
Session 2, 5-12 yrs
Each day we will explore a different field of science through hands on experiments and projects with common household items.  After a week of experimenting your child will be eager to see what they can come up with in their own kitchen!

Zip, Zoom, Slurp, Cha-Ching It's a Fair
Session 1 & 2, 5-12 yrs
Students will get a hands on perspective of how math and science is used in an amusement park and/or fair setting. Students will play games, make carnival prizes, prepare food and design their own carnival ride. They will have a better understanding how science and math are used to accomplish these things and have fun in the process.

Digital Storytelling
Session 1 & 2, 5-12 yrs
This class will engage students in a creative digital story telling journey.  Students will begin their journey with brainstorming and pre-writing on paper before being taught how to transform their story into a digital book.  Students will be taught how to add audio and their own artwork to each story.  This will be an exciting class where students will use their imagination to create and share the story with family and friends.  Students will learn how to use two different digital storytelling programs throughout the week and will be given the information so they can continue to use the websites at home. 

Wildlife Rocks
Session 1 & 2, 5-12 yrs
Students will be engaged in activities involving artifacts and organisms related to Oklahoma Wildlife awareness.  This will include activities regarding Oklahoma's State Symbols, (ex. Scissor-Tailed Flycatcher, Black Swallowtail Butterfly, Redbud Tree, White Bass, Rose Rock, and Mistletoe).  Also, a "hands on" experience with animal skins, sculls, and feathers, (ex. Carnivore and Herbivore Sculls, Mammal Skins and Hides, Bird Wings and Feathers).  Students will learn how to identify and attract backyard wildlife by providing food, water and shelter for a wide variety of plants and animals.
