Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is accreditation?
Accreditation is a voluntary process sought by colleges and universities consisting of an external evaluation of the entire institution in light of the institution's mission and certain accepted standards and criteria as established by the accrediting agency. Accreditation has two primary purposes: quality assurance and institutional/program improvement.

2. Who is the accrediting organization for Redlands Community College?

Five Criteria for Accreditation

Criterion One: Mission and Integrity

The organization operates with integrity to ensure the fulfillment of its mission through structures and processes that involve the board, administration, faculty, staff, and students.
1a. The organization's mission documents are clear and articulate publicly the organization's commitments.
1b. In its mission documents, the organization recognizes the diversity of its learners, other constituencies, and the greater society it serves.

Overview of Accreditation Process

The process of accreditation is conducted through both a thorough institutional Self-Study Process and an external review of overall quality assurance by an accrediting agency which will verify the quality and integrity of our educational programs. We will undergo a site visit in February, 2011 by a team from the HLC which will review our published Self-Study Report and conduct an onsite evaluation of all aspects of the college.
