Undergraduates at Redlands get to be involved in conducting research. Plus, all classes are taught by the full professor: there are no graduate-student teachers.

Paying for Redlands

A college education at Redlands costs less than the Oklahoma state average for public institutions (based on cost per credit hour). For students planning to attain a four-year degree, completing the first two at Redlands can save you thousands.

The successful partnership between Russell-Murray Hospice and Redlands Community College was recently recognized with the 2024 Regents Business Partnership Excellence Award. The Redlands Community College Nursing Program owes its longevity and success to vital partnerships with health care facilities in El Reno and surrounding communities. Recently, the college’s partnership with Russell-Murray Hospice was recognized with the 2024 Regents Business Partnership Excellence Award.

“The demand for well-trained nurses continues to remain high, and we recognize the critical role of partners like Russell-Murray Hospice, who provide invaluable hands-on training opportunities for our nursing students,” said Redlands President Jena Marr.

Russell-Murray Hospice (RMH), an open-access, nonprofit organization, was co-founded in 1988 by an alumna of the Redlands nursing programs and serves a 75-mile radius around El Reno with additional offices in Kingfisher, Weatherford and Oklahoma City. In 2013, Redlands began collaborating with RMH to expand clinical experiences for nursing students.

“This partnership enhances the quality of education we offer, ensuring our students are equipped with the skills and experience necessary to excel in the state’s health care field,” said Dr. Jalelah Abdul-Raheem, head of the Redlands nursing program. “We are deeply grateful for their ongoing support and commitment to the advancement of nursing education.”

Vicki Myers, executive director of RMH and a Redlands nursing alumna, added:

“I am deeply passionate about the importance of providing compassionate care for individuals at the end of their lives. Our partnership with Redlands is invaluable, as it not only equips students with the necessary skills to deliver this essential care but also instills in them the profound impact they can make in our community. These nursing students are not only learning; they are providing meaningful comfort and support during life's most challenging moments."

With a 100% job placement rate, Redlands offers a two-year degree program that prepares graduates to successfully take the National Council Licensure Exam (NCLEX) for licensure as a registered nurse and to enter the workforce immediately. Redlands has two nursing program options: the traditional RN program and a track for Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs). Students who are enrolled in the LPN-to-RN cohort earn articulation credits in the first semester, allowing them to graduate in three semesters instead of four.

Russell-Murray Hospice is the only free-standing, open access, non-profit hospice serving central and western Oklahoma. Its nonprofit status allows the organization to care for all who qualify for services, regardless of ability to pay. To learn more about RHM, visit rmhospice.org.
