Campus Closures and Paid Time Off

Probation Period

All employees shall be employed on a probationary status during the first year of employment.

Health and Disability Insurance

Empyrean Benefit Solutions
Empyrean is our benefits enrollment and administration platform.  Redlands Community College requires all employees to electronically enroll in their insurance, including employer paid benefits, using the Empyrean portal/website. 

Health Insurance
Redlands Community College provides group health insurance coverage for full-time employees through the Oklahoma Higher Education Employee Interlocal Group (OKHEEI).  The current medical coverage is with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Oklahoma.  Coverage is effective the first day of the month following hire date.  Depending on which plan is elected, the College pays all or majority of the premium on the employee.  Dependent coverage is available at the employee’s expense.  Rates and summaries are available on the OKHEEI site or the Human Resources Office.    

Dental Insurance
Redlands Community College provides group dental insurance coverage for full-time employees through the Oklahoma Higher Education Employee Interlocal Group (OKHEEI).  The current dental coverage is with Delta Dental of Oklahoma.  Coverage is effective the first day of the month following hire date.  The College pays all of the premium on the employee.  Dependent coverage is available at the employee’s expense.  Rates and summaries are available on the OKHEEI site or the Human Resources Office.    

Vision Insurance
Redlands Community College provides group vision insurance coverage for full-time employees through the Oklahoma Higher Education Employee Interlocal Group (OKHEEI).  The current vision coverage is with Vision Services Plan (VSP).  Coverage is effective the first day of the month following hire date.  Depending on which plan is elected, the College pays all or majority of the premium on the employee.  Dependent coverage is available at the employee’s expense.  Rates and summaries are available on the OKHEEI site or the Human Resources Office.    

Life and AD&D Insurance
Redlands Community College provides term life and accidental death and dismemberment insurance coverage for full-time employees through the Oklahoma Higher Education Employee Interlocal Group (OKHEEI).  The current life and AD&D coverage is with Standard Insurance Company.  Coverage is effective the first day of the month following hire date.  The College pays all of the premium on the employee.
    
Disability Insurance
Redlands Community College provides long-term disability insurance coverage for full-time employees through the Oklahoma Higher Education Employee Interlocal Group (OKHEEI).  The long-term disability coverage is with Standard Insurance Company.  Coverage is effective the first day of the month following hire date.  The College pays all of the premium on the employee.

Section 125 Cafeteria Plan
Redlands Community College participates in the IRS Section 125 Cafeteria Plan for full-time employees through the Oklahoma Higher Education Employee Interlocal Group (OKHEEI).  The vendor that manages the Cafeteria Plan is Flexible Benefit Administrators, Inc. (FBA).  A Cafeteria Plan allows an employer to offer a selected group of benefits to its employees on a pre-tax basis.  Health Spending Account (HSA), Flexible Savings Account (FSA), and Dependent Care FSA (DCFSA) are included at the employee’s expense.  

Zero – Additional Medical and Prescription Services
Zero is a benefit through the Oklahoma Higher Education Employee Interlocal Group (OKHEEI).  Zero offers to our employees to receive certain services and generic prescriptions at ZERO ($0.00) charge to the employee.  Procedures could include certain surgeries, lab work, imaging and prescriptions.  Zero contracts directly with local healthcare providers to maximize employer savings and provide their plan members with a great new benefit.  For more information, contact the Human Resources Office.  

Voluntary Life and AD&D Insurance for Employee and Dependents
Redlands Community College provides the full-time employee an option to purchase additional term life and accidental death and dismemberment insurance coverage for themselves and their dependents through the Oklahoma Higher Education Employee Interlocal Group (OKHEEI).  The current vendor for voluntary life and AD&D coverage is with Standard Insurance Company.  Coverage is effective the first day of the month following hire date.  The employee is responsible for 100% of the premium.

Supplemental Insurance
Redlands Community College provides supplemental insurance, such as accident, critical illness, and hospital indemnity insurance for full-time employees and their dependents through the Oklahoma Higher Education Employee Interlocal Group (OKHEEI).  The current vendor is with Voya Financial.  The employee is responsible for 100% of the premium.

COBRA Insurance
Redlands Community College adheres to all state and federal laws pertaining to COBRA Insurance.  The Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA) is a health insurance program that allows eligible employees and their dependents the continued benefits of health insurance coverage when an employee loses their job, experiences a reduction of work hours, or other life events.  Dental and vision insurance is also allowed to continue after an employee loses their job or experiences a reduction of work hours.  Costs associated with COBRA insurance is 100% paid by the employee.  Coverage is for a limited period of time of 18 or 36 months depending on the qualifying event. 

Retirement

Redlands Community College participates in the Oklahoma Teachers Retirement System (OTRS) and complies with the applicable provisions with regard to full-time employees.  The OTRS requires contributions in amounts which are equivalent to specified percentages of employees’ compensation.  For OTRS Rules and Regulations, visit the Oklahoma Teachers Retirement System’s website at www.ok.gov/TRS.  Coverage is effective the first day of employment.  

The College pays 100% of OTRS contributions on the employee’s full-time salary compensation package.  All full-time Faculty, Administrative, and Professional Staff are required to participate in OTRS.  All full-time Support Staff have the option to participate in OTRS.  All part-time Staff or Adjunct Faculty who participate in OTRS, as an active member through another agency, while also employed at Redlands Community College may elect to participate in OTRS through the College at the employee’s expense.

403(b) Retirement
Redlands Community College has a 403(b) Retirement Plan through Voya Financial.  Employee’s may open an account with Voya Financial and contribute toward their 403(b) retirement account.  Elections are on a pre-tax basis and 100% paid by the employee.  Redlands Community College does not match contributions.

Workers Compensation and Unemployment

Workers Compensation Insurance
Redlands Community College is self-insured for Worker’s Compensation.  The program that administers our Worker’s Compensation is through College Association of Liability Management (CALM).  Claims are submitted to Consolidated Benefits Resources.  Contact the Human Resources Office if a claim is needed to be filed.

Unemployment Insurance
Redlands Community College is self-insured for the unemployment program that is administered by the Oklahoma Employment Security Commission.

Tuition

Redlands Community College provides opportunities for continuous academic growth for its employees and their dependents by providing half price tuition waivers for full-time employees and their dependents (spouse and children) in Redlands Community College courses.

Pay Distribution

Part-time Hourly employees are paid one time per month on the 27th day of the month.  If the 27th falls on a weekend or a Holiday, it will be on the previous working day.  Full-time and Adjunct Faculty are paid one time per month on the last working day of the month.  All 12 month full-time faculty and staff are paid in 12 installments on the last working day of the month.  All 9 and 10 month full-time contracts are paid in 12 installments and are paid August through June with two installments in June.

Direct Deposit

All employees are required to receive their paychecks by Direct Deposit.  If an individual is unable to open a bank account, there is an option to open a Paycard through the Oklahoma State Treasury.  Fees do apply.
