Redlands Student Receives Inaugural Honor Society Scholarship Award

Redlands Community College nursing student Christy Rutherford was among the inaugural group to receive the 2018 New Century Workforce Pathway Scholar award. This new scholarship is the first of its kind to support students at the associate-degree level who plan to enter the workforce upon graduation rather than transfer to a four-year college. The program is sponsored by The Coca-Cola Foundation and Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society (PTK).

NASA Invites Redlands Student to Attend Scholars Program

Like most kids, Alyssa Wheeler dreamt of becoming an astronaut one day. It started in the third grade when she took her first trip to the state’s Omniplex (now known as Science Museum Oklahoma) and toured the planetarium. She learned about space and the ocean. She realized the world’s magnitude and wanted to learn more about it. She was hooked.

More than 10 years later, Wheeler is still holding on to that dream and recently took steps to reach it.

Spring, Summer Enrollment Assistance Available

Redlands Community College is offering one-on-one enrollment assistance for the spring and summer semesters. The Admissions and Advising Office has scheduled two enrollment nights Tuesday, Dec. 4 and Monday, Jan. 7 from 5 to 7 p.m.

Each session will allow students to enroll in spring and summer classes and give them an opportunity to visit with advisors, check financial aid status, get a student ID, and learn about campus clubs and organizations. For those prospective students who need to complete an entrance exam, the last placement test will begin at 6:15 p.m.

Scholarship Applications Available Online

Applications are available online for tuition waivers and scholarships. Tuition waiver scholarships range from $250 to $1,000 for each academic year, while the Redlands Community College Foundation offers several scholarship programs.

“We are pleased to be able to offer students a way to make a college education more affordable,” said Redlands President Jack Bryant. “Financial aid is necessary for so many students, and these tuition waivers and foundation scholarships help fill the financial gap for Redlands students.”
